Burton Baldwin
Mr. Baldwin has taught eleven grade levels in the Ignacio School District which serves the Southern Ute Reservation and its outlying areas for over thirty-six years. He has also coached two sports and mentored six student teachers during his tenure. Burton is the 1991 recipient of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Education, the Colorado Commissioner of Education Conservation Award, the Boettcher Foundation Teacher Recognition Award, and has been a three time recipient of both the Southern Ute Teacher Award and Mason’s Teacher of the Year Award. Mr. Baldwin is the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award for 2013 given by the Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented Teachers. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and The Methodist Theological School. He has taught for Franklin University, Pueblo Community College, Adams State University and Fort Lewis College. He also served as an assistant Chaplain for Ohio Wesleyan University.
