Learn the basics of encaustic painting. The 2 day workshop will teach you how to make your own medium, fuse with a heat gun/blow torch, making encaustic colors, scraping, deep pours, wax cake and embedding materials. Students are encourage to bring materials they’d like to experiment with and addition substrates they’d like to use for encaustic painting. Some wood panels are going to be available for student but they can bring more if they want to make a small collection. Just keep in mind that encaustic works best with material that can absorb wax easily but there can be other ways to attach reliefs to pieces.
